Jaguars Grind Out Crucial Road Win In Hobbs, 81-73
Hobbs, NM- The Texas A&M University–San Antonio men's basketball team kept its conference tournament hopes alive Thursday night with an 81–73 road win over Southwest.
The Jaguars took control late, outscoring Southwest 45–35 in the second half after heading into the break with a narrow two-point advantage. The victory improves A&M–San Antonio to 4–9 in conference play as the regular season enters its final stretch.
Antwone Gonzales and Dezmon Dudley paced the Jaguars with 19 points apiece. Gonzales was aggressive offensively, finishing 5-of-12 from the field and 7-of-13 at the free-throw line, while Dudley added a strong all-around performance with 19 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Paul Minjoth provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points and knocking down timely shots as A&M–San Antonio maintained its edge in the second half. The Jaguars also received solid interior contributions from Fotis Hristopoulos, who grabbed seven rebounds, and Carson Brown, who added six boards.
A&M–San Antonio shot efficiently from the free-throw line and limited Southwest's late comeback attempts with disciplined defense down the stretch.
With the win, the Jaguars remain in the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament, making the remaining games on the schedule critical as the postseason approaches.
