Jaguars Fall Short in High-Scoring Battle Against Huston-Tillotson, 91–86
San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M–San Antonio came out strong but couldn't hold off Huston-Tillotson in a 91–86 defeat Monday evening inside the TAMUSA Gym. Despite a dominant first half and a double-double from Carson Brown, the Jaguars saw their lead slip away late in the second period.
The Jaguars opened the game firing, posting 43 points in the first half behind 50.8% shooting from the field. Brown led the way with 29 points and 13 rebounds, connecting on 11-of-14 shots and showing his strength in the paint. Dezmon Dudley added 17 points and six rebounds, while Paul Minjoth provided nine points and seven boards.
A&M–San Antonio took a 43–30 lead into halftime and held a 17-point advantage at one stage, thanks to balanced scoring and energy on the glass. The Jaguars outrebounded Huston-Tillotson 47–35 and dominated inside with 48 points in the paint.
Huston-Tillotson turned the tide in the second half with hot perimeter shooting and pressure defense. Guard Braelon Seals erupted for 37 points, including seven three-pointers, and Jaylen Streeter contributed 19 points, eight rebounds, and six steals as the Rams scored 52 in the second period.
Despite late efforts from Brown and Dudley, the Jaguars couldn't recover after a series of turnovers and missed opportunities in the final minutes. A&M–San Antonio finished the night shooting 50.8% from the floor but committed 24 turnovers, which Huston-Tillotson converted into 35 points.
