Jaguars Fall to #3 Campbellsville

McKenzie, TN- Facing one of the nation's top programs, Texas A&M–San Antonio battled throughout but ultimately fell 92–52 to No. 3 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Friday afternoon inside Crisp Arena.

The Jaguars (3–2) opened with confidence, knocking down three early three-pointers and keeping pace in the first quarter. Maya Simon and Aniyah Lewis connected from deep, and Talaiyah Andrews added another triple as TAMUSA cut into the early Campbellsville lead. Despite the strong start from long range, turnovers plagued the Jaguars early, with eight giveaways in the opening quarter contributing to a 13–18 deficit after 10 minutes.

Campbellsville (9–0), one of the NAIA's most explosive offenses, began to pull away in the second quarter. The Tigers' pressure defense forced 23 first-half turnovers, turning many into points at the rim. TAMUSA continued to knock down timely shots—Emily Carranco hit a three, and Zaadiyah Stovall provided a spark off the bench with a six-point burst—but the Tigers closed the half ahead 46–30.

After halftime, the Jaguars continued to fight, getting key defensive stops and steady interior scoring from Patience Grey and Hailee Brandon. But Campbellsville's depth and defensive activity proved too much to overcome. The Tigers outscored TAMUSA 24–15 in the third quarter and held the Jaguars to just seven points in the final frame.

Simon led A&M–San Antonio with eight points, including two three-pointers, while Lewis and Brandon each added six. Stovall was perfect from the field (3-for-3) as part of a strong bench effort that produced 26 total points for the Jaguars. Grey contributed four points and four rebounds, and Andrews finished with six points after a strong first quarter.

Defensively, Evelyn Lorenzo anchored the effort with four steals and four assists, while Victoria Adeniran added two steals of her own.

Campbellsville's length and pressure forced 32 TAMUSA turnovers, which the Tigers converted into 30 points. The Jaguars held their own on the glass, grabbing 27 rebounds, including nine offensive boards, but Campbellsville's efficiency inside the paint—50 points at the rim—proved decisive.

Despite the loss, the matchup provided early-season experience against elite competition as the Jaguars continue their non-conference slate.
