Jaguars Earn Win Against Huston-Tillotson

Round Rock, TX- In a match that pitted the Jaguar women's soccer team against a familiar foe (Huston-Tillotson University is a former member of the Red River Athletic Conference), the Jaguars got in the win column for the first time in the young 2025 soccer season.

The first half started off on the wrong foot for the Jaguars as the Rams of Huston-Tillotson jumped out early on with a goal at the 3:43 mark. After the goal, the Jaguars settled into play and began generating some pressure of their own while doing a much better job defending their side of the field. Better play would pay off for the Jaguars with an earned penalty kick just after the 43:00 mark of play. Skylar Parker took the penalty kick, which rebounded off the Ram's goalkeeper, and Parker was able to put the ball in the back of the net off the rebound. The Jaguars would go into half time tied 1-1.

The Jaguars opened the second half continuing to put pressure on the Rams, but the Rams did a respectable job of keeping the Jaguars off the scoreboard. That ended at the 69:38 mark, however, when Ana Baragan (Frida Perez assist) was able to burry what would end up being the match winning goal.

The Jaguars begin RRAC play this Thursday September 25th when Jarvis Christian College comes to town. The match is scheduled for 1:00pm and will be held on campus at A&M-San Antonio.

Following the match, Head Coach Tim Moody said, "This was a win built not only on effort, but also on execution. By doing the little things right and staying focused on our team principles, we earned the outcome. It's a performance we can build on moving forward, knowing that when we stick together and play our game, we are capable of handling challenges and finding success."
