Women's Soccer Draws With Schreiner

San Antonio, TX- In a match where the weather had Fall overtones with 90 minutes of rain and cooler temps, the Jaguar women failed to capitalize on a bevy of late game opportunities and had to settle for a draw with the Mountaineers of Schreiner University.

The Mountaineers opened the match by possessing the ball at a higher clip than the Jaguars, but their advantage of possession did not result in any more opportunities as the Jaguars outshot the Mountaineers five to two in the first half, and the Jaguar defense played exceptionally well limiting the Mountaineers' chances.

Jaguars Head Coach Tim Moody's half-time adjustments, in formation and personnel, indicated that he intended to take the second half to the Mountaineers, and take it to them they did. The second half saw the Jaguars possess the ball more, and they were much more aggressive pushing the ball forward. From the 70:00 mark through the end of the match, the Jaguars took seven of their thirteen shots, which saw their three best opportunities get thwarted by quality Mountaineer keeper play and by the goal post. When the final whistle blew at the 90:00 mark the score remained 0-0, but the Jaguars certainly outplayed the Mountaineers all the same.

Coach Moody concluded, "We put in a strong performance against Schreiner today, highlighted by a solid defensive display that earned us a clean sheet. While it was disappointing not to score the goals that would have secured the win, the quality of the attacking third was encouraging and really showed our potential. While we left the field frustrated not to claim the win, the clean sheet and our ability to control key areas of the match should give us confidence moving forward."
