Jaguar Women Earn the Second Seed in RRAC Tournament
San Antonio, TX- The Texas A&M University-San Antonio women's basketball team closed out the regular season in emphatic fashion, grinding out two tough victories to secure the No. 2 seed in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament.
In just their second season of competition, the Jaguar women are postseason-bound for the second consecutive year — a remarkable feat for a young program that continues to set the standard for rapid success.
A&M-San Antonio finished conference play at 17-4 (0.810) and closed the regular season 21-7 overall (0.750). The Jaguars finished tied for second in the standings but earned the tournament's No. 2 seed, trailing only LSU Shreveport (20-2 RRAC).
The strong finish puts the Jaguars ahead of Texas A&M-Texarkana, who also finished 17-4 in league play, and solidifies A&M-San Antonio as one of the conference's elite programs heading into tournament week.
Needing wins to maintain control of their seeding position, the Jaguars responded with poise and composure down the stretch. In two hard-fought contests to close the regular season, A&M-San Antonio leaned on its defensive intensity, balanced scoring and veteran leadership to secure the victories.
The back-to-back wins not only preserved their standing near the top of the conference, but also reinforced the team's identity: disciplined, physical and unshaken in high-pressure moments.
Qualifying for the postseason in each of the program's first two seasons speaks volumes about the foundation being built in San Antonio.The Jaguars have quickly transitioned from newcomers to contenders in the RRAC, establishing themselves among conference mainstays.
With momentum on their side and a top-two seed secured, the Jaguars now turn their focus to the RRAC Tournament, where a championship run is firmly within reach.
The Jaguars will host Texas College on Wedesday February 25th at 6:00pm in the opening round of the tournament.
