A&M–San Antonio Controls the Paint in 83–56 Win Over Jarvis Christian

San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M University–San Antonio put together a balanced offensive effort and stifling defensive performance to earn an 83–56 victory over Jarvis Christian College on Thursday.

The Jaguars shot 42.4 percent from the field and forced 25 turnovers, turning defense into offense throughout the night. A&M–San Antonio also held a 38–33 rebounding edge and recorded 17 assists as a team.

TaMya Whitemon led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down seven field goals while adding four steals and two assists. Evenlyn Lorenzo followed with 13 points and a game-high eight assists, connecting on both of her three-point attempts and going 7-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Kierra Sanderlin added 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Jada Turner was efficient off the bench, scoring nine points in just eight minutes and shooting 80 percent from the floor. Hailee Brandon contributed eight points and a team-best seven rebounds, and Zaadiyah Stovall chipped in six points and four boards.

Defensively, the Jaguars were active all night, finishing with 11 steals and eight blocks. Whitemon and Brandon combined for seven steals, while Turner and Stovall each recorded two blocks.

Jarvis Christian struggled to find a rhythm offensively, shooting just 23.7 percent from the field and committing 25 turnovers. Despite a rebounding advantage, the Bulldogs were unable to overcome A&M–San Antonio's pressure and depth.

The win continues a strong stretch of play for the Jaguars as they continue to work to secure a top seed in the RRAC tournament.
