New Orleans, LA- Texas A&M University–San Antonio closed out the calendar year with a hard-fought 61–57 victory over Xavier (La.) on Saturday, using a strong defensive finish to secure the road win.
The Jaguars jumped out to an early advantage, outscoring Xavier 20–19 in the opening quarter before extending the lead to 33–32 at halftime. A&M–San Antonio maintained control in the third period behind steady execution on both ends of the floor, holding a four-point edge heading into the final quarter.
Xavier attempted to rally late, but the Jaguars' defense limited the Gold Rush to just nine points in the fourth quarter, allowing A&M–San Antonio to close out the contest and improve its overall record to 9–4.
