Jaguars Dominate Southwest to Remain Unbeaten at Home

San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M–San Antonio delivered its most lopsided performance of the season Saturday night, overwhelming the University of the Southwest (N.M.) 92–46 at home behind a relentless defensive effort and a balanced scoring attack.

The Jaguars controlled the game from the opening tip, turning pressure defense into points and never allowing the Mustangs to find consistent offense. A&M–San Antonio forced 29 turnovers, converting them into 32 points, and outscored Southwest 26–5 in fast-break points.

A&M–San Antonio's depth proved decisive, with 40 points coming from the bench. The Jaguars shot 46.2 percent from the field, dominated the paint 50–10, and held a 47–42 rebound advantage.

Four Jaguars scored in double figures, led by TaMya Whitemon, who posted 14 points, including two three-pointers and four steals. Aniyah Lewis added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Evelyn Lorenzo and Talaiyah Andrews each chipped in 11 points. Andrews also recorded four steals and two blocks in an all-around standout effort.

A&M–San Antonio's offense built steadily across each quarter, highlighted by a 30-point third period that put the game fully out of reach. The Jaguars' largest lead reached 46 points, a testament to their control on both ends of the floor.

Southwest was led by Seniya Wilson, who scored 21 points and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Michaela Ray contributed 14 points, hitting four three-pointers, but the Mustangs shot just 24.6 percent from the field and were unable to overcome the Jaguars' defensive intensity.

The Jaguars opened with an 18–16 first-quarter lead and tightened the screws defensively in the second, forcing 12 turnovers in the period to surge ahead 43–26 at halftime. A 30-point outburst in the third quarter put the game firmly in A&M–San Antonio's control as they continued to push the pace and attack the paint.
