Lorenzo Dominates As Jaguars Earn Tough Road Win

Havre, MT– Texas A&M University–San Antonio women's basketball kicked off its 2025–26 campaign with an 82–80 victory over Montana State-Northern on Saturday evening. The Jaguars held off a late surge from the Lights to secure the two-point win.

Senior guard Evelyn Lorenzo led the way with a game-high 29 points, shooting 11-for-22 from the floor while adding five assists and three steals in 36 minutes. She scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to help A&M–San Antonio hold off Montana State-Northern's comeback attempt.

Hailee Brandon chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Maya Simon added 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Aniyah Lewis provided a spark with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting and two made threes before fouling out. Zaadiyah Stovall anchored the defense with nine rebounds and three blocks.

As a team, the Jaguars shot 46.4% from the field and 46.7% from beyond the arc, while forcing eight steals and committing just six turnovers. A&M–San Antonio outscored the Lights 38–24 in the paint and led by as many as 13 points midway through the second half.

Montana State-Northern was led by Becky Melcher and Ciera Agasiva, who each scored 19 points, and Canzas HisBadHorse, who posted a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

A&M–San Antonio jumped out to a 23–20 lead after the first quarter and took a 37–34 advantage into halftime. The Jaguars extended their lead to double digits in the third, but the Lights rallied late behind hot perimeter shooting, closing the gap to two before the final buzzer.

The Jaguars will return to action next week for their home opener with Haskell as non-conference play continues.
