Jaguars Fall in Semifinal, Cap Most Successful Campaign in Program History

Texarkana, Texas – Texas A&M University–San Antonio wrapped up its historic 2025 campaign on Monday evening, falling 3–1 to nationally ranked LSU Shreveport in a neutral-site matchup to close the season. The Jaguars finished the year with an 11–4–2 record, marking the most successful season in program history.

LSU Shreveport jumped out to an early lead with goals in the 26th and 44th minutes to take a 2–0 advantage into halftime. The Pilots extended their lead to 3–0 early in the second half before the Jaguars answered.

Senior midfielder Christian Guerrero put A&M–San Antonio on the board in the 69th minute, finishing a pass from Ronald Aguilar to make it 3–1. Despite several late opportunities, the Jaguars couldn't close the gap.

Goalkeeper Marco Matranga turned in a strong performance, recording nine saves against 17 shots on goal to keep A&M–San Antonio within striking distance. The Jaguars tallied seven total shots and three on frame, while the Pilots fired 22 attempts.

Defenders Andres Rodriguez, Eduardo Hernandez, and Samuel Allen each contributed key defensive stops, including multiple clearances off the line, as the Jaguars battled throughout the match.

Though the result didn't go their way, the Jaguars' 2025 season will be remembered for its milestones — including the program's first-ever appearance in the second round of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament and a school-record 11 wins.
