Jaguars Bring Down Eagles

San Antonio, TX- The Jaguar men's soccer team faced conference and system foe A&M-Texarkana for their second conference match of the season. The match was never in doubt for the Jaguars, and they secured a 3-0 win to go 2-0 in RRAC play.

The Jaguars got the scoring going with a Ronald Aguilar goal that was a converted penalty kick at the 9:27 mark. After the initial goal, the Jaguars put a lot of pressure on the Eagles, and the Eagles, down just one goal, seemed content to play back on their line. The Jaguars out shot the Eagles in the first half 19-2, whiffing on a handful of could have been, should have been goals but were ultimately unable to connect and convert. The Jaguars took a 1-0 lead into half-time.

The second half started much the same as the first half ended. The Jaguars continued to apply pressure with the Eagles, again, seemingly content to absorb that pressure. At the 69:09 mark, Aguilar was finally able to crack the wall, so to speak, putting one in the net for a 2-0 lead. The final goal for the Jaguars was a beautiful one. At the 78:26 mark, Oscar Hernandez took a volley in the box and successfully converted a bicycle kick right into the top side of the net. The Jaguars won the match 3-0.

Coach Jaramillo said, "It was important to start conference play off with six points. I liked the way our guys played today, and I believe we put together a complete game against a solid team. We are happy with this performance, and now we keep working to get ready for the next test."
