Jaguars Men’s Golf Builds Momentum with Tournament Wins in 2026 Season

San Antonio, TX- The Texas A&M University–San Antonio men's golf team concluded the 2025–26 season with a mix of high-impact victories and valuable growth, showcasing the continued rise of the program within the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC).

Across a full schedule of fall and spring competition, the Jaguars delivered two tournament championships and multiple competitive finishes, establishing themselves as a team capable of competing at a high level.

The Jaguars opened their season at the Texas Wesleyan Fall Invitational, finishing seventh and gaining early experience against a competitive field.

That experience quickly translated into success. In October, A&M–San Antonio captured the Chicken Express Invitational title, earning a first-place finish and securing one of the program's most notable early-season victories.

The momentum continued with solid performances throughout the fall, including a seventh-place finish at the Battle in the Desert and a fourth-place showing at the LSU Alexandria Fall Invitational.

These results highlighted the Jaguars' ability to compete across different course conditions and tournament formats.

The spring portion of the schedule presented new challenges but also provided another major breakthrough moment.

After middle-of-the-pack finishes early in the spring—including events such as the Claud Jacobs Invitational and Top of Texas—the Jaguars found their rhythm late in the season.

At The Lark Invitational, A&M–San Antonio delivered one of its strongest performances of the year, finishing first out of 14 teams. The victory marked the team's second tournament championship of the season and reinforced its ability to compete against larger and more competitive fields.

A key factor in the Jaguars' success was the performance of junior standout Nils Emil Sjö, who delivered one of the top individual performances of the season.

Sjö captured the individual title at The Lark Invitational, leading a field of more than 80 competitors and guiding the Jaguars to the team championship. His consistency and scoring ability earned him RRAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors, highlighting his impact during the spring stretch.

His leadership and steady play were instrumental in helping the Jaguars maintain competitiveness across the entire season.

Across the full schedule, A&M–San Antonio demonstrated both promise and progress.

The Jaguars recorded:

  • Two first-place tournament finishes
  • Multiple top-five and top-half finishes
  • Experience competing in fields ranging from small invitationals to larger regional events

The team also faced challenges, including some difficult outings later in the spring, but continued to gain valuable experience that will benefit the program moving forward.

The season concluded at the RRAC Men's Golf Championship, where the Jaguars entered with momentum following their late-season win.

However, the tournament proved to be a difficult finish for the team. The Jaguars were unable to replicate their earlier success and fell short of expectations in the conference championship event.

Despite the disappointing result, the experience provided an opportunity for growth as the team competed against the conference's top programs in a postseason setting.

While the RRAC Championship did not end as hoped, the overall body of work from the 2025–26 season reflects a program on the rise.

With two tournament wins, strong individual performances, and consistent development throughout the year, A&M–San Antonio continues to build toward becoming a top contender in the conference.

The Jaguars showed they have the talent to win—and the experience gained this season will be key in closing the gap at the championship level.

As the program looks toward the future, the foundation is firmly in place.

With returning talent, emerging contributors, and momentum from a season that included multiple victories, A&M–San Antonio men's golf is poised to continue its upward trajectory.

The 2026 season was a step forward—and with continued growth, the Jaguars are positioning themselves for even greater success in the seasons to come.

These recognitions reflect a program that is not only improving, but one that is developing depth and consistency across the lineup.
