Jaguars, Sjo Take Home Crown
Andover, KS – The Texas A&M-San Antonio men's golf team reached a program milestone this week by securing the team championship at the 2026 Lark Invitational. Competing at the demanding Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas, the Jaguars outpaced a deep field of 14 NAIA and NJCAA programs to hoist the trophy on Tuesday afternoon.
The squad finished the 54-hole tournament with a collective score of +29, edging out runner-up Seminole State by just two strokes in a thrilling final round. This victory was anchored by an extraordinary individual performance from Nils Emil Sjo, who captured the individual medalist honors.
Sjo displayed remarkable composure over two days of play, finishing the tournament at +1 with rounds of 69, 74, and 71. His opening-round 69 was one of the few sub-70 scores recorded during the event, providing the early spark necessary to keep the Jaguars atop the leaderboard.
While Sjo took home the individual hardware, the championship was a true testament to the team's collective depth and resilience. Jack Wilson provided a strong presence throughout the tournament, shooting 78, 68, and 76 going +9 for the tournament. Kyle Mahan, Aden Morales, and Viktor Akin rounded out the top five for the Jaguars.
The team now returns to San Antonio with newfound confidence as they continue to prepare for the upcoming Red River Athletic Conference Championship in Hobbs, New Mexico.
