Men's Golf to Compete in RRAC Tournament

San Antonio, TX- The Jaguar men's golf team will compete in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship Tournament on May 5th and 6th. The tournament is being hosted in San Antonio by Our Lady of the Lake University at the friendly confines of Golf Club of Texas.

The Jaguar's are, perhaps, playing their best golf in the program's short history this season having set team and individual scoring records. As a team the Jaguar's finished the second round of the University of the Southwest Fall Invitational at two under, which is a school record for lowest round ever. This past Spring, at the Linda Lowery Invitational, Jacob Pena became the first golfer in school history to win an individual championship and in the process set school records for round and two day tournament lows at 68 and 137, respectively. This type of play is what it will take to win what very well might be the most competitive RRAC golf tournament in recent memory, with A&M-San Antonio, OLLU, and UHV all being ranked within the top 60 teams in the NAIA and having all traded head-to-head wins and losses this season.

Head Coach Christi Cano commented, "We know we are fully capable of winning the conference championship, but we also know that to do it we need all five of our guys to all play well at the same time. It seems simple enough, but we have not done that near consistently enough. I do believe in our team, though. We have the right guys, and I believe we can get it done."

The RRAC tournament will begin with a practice round on May 4th with rounds one and two taking place on May 5th and round three on May 6th . More information will be released soon and can be found here.
