Men’s Golf Fights to Fourth Place Finish at UHV Fall Classic; Three Jaguars Finish Top 20 Individually

VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-San Antonio Men's Golf team jumped to spots from sixth to fourth to finish in the top half of the UHV Fall Classic. The Jaguars played their best round of the tournament to combine for a third round score of 302. A-M San Antonio was 14+ on the day which was the third best team score of the day.

Freshman Jacob Pena (Victoria, Texas) led the charge for the Jaguars with a round three score of 73 (1+). The Victoria, Texas native picked up three birdies on the front nine and eagled the 13th hole to solidify a solid day on the course. The rookie finished the tournament with a total score of 229 (13+) which was strong enough for a top 10 individual finish.

Freshmen Oskar Blomdahl and senior Jordan Hardin both finished the tournament (19+) with total scores of 235. The score of 235 also put the two rookies inside the top 20 individually as they tied for 17th place. Hardin tallied two birdies on the day and Blomdahl contributed with three birdies through 18 holes.

Junior Javy Jazo (Freeport, Ill. / Aquin Catholic High School) finshed 26th individually with a total score of 238 (22+). Sophomore David Rodriguez (Edinburg, Texas) recorded his lowest 18 hole score of the tournament with a card of 79 (7+). Rodriguez finished the tournament with a 54 hole score of  244. Junior Donny Harper (Liberty Hill, Texas / Liberty Hill HS) competed individually and shot a 54 hole score of 248.

A&M-San Antonio will play its final tournament of the fall next week. The Jaguars will be in Plainview, Texas competing at the Wayland Baptist Invitational.
