San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-San Antonio) Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Darnell Smith, was recently inducted into Joint Base San Antonio's Honorary Commanders Program.
The mission behind the Honorary Commanders Program is multifaceted. The first objective of the program is to expose leaders in the community to the varied missions of the 433rd Air Wing and its squadrons, and the second objective is to foster cooperative relationships between civic leaders and air wing leaders.

The Security Forces Squadron's stated mission is to, "Train unit members to meet wartime mission requirements while providing support assistance to its active-duty counterparts. It deploys security forces personnel to provide Air Base defense, physical security, law enforcement and resource protection missions in any climate or location".
"I am blessed and honored to be given the opportunity, as an Honorary Commander of the Security Forces Squadron of the 433rd Airlift Wing, to learn from and be alongside those who serve our country while serving my community and university."
